Lauren Davis is fifteen years old. She will be a junior this fall at West Potomac High School in Alexandria, Virginia. New Year's Eve, six years ago, she was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. It was a sobering start to the New Year for her whole family.
Lauren has learned to live with diabetes. She now wears an insulin pump and checks her blood sugar four to six times daily. She frequently fields questions about that "gadget" on her belt.
Lauren started playing golf at age seven. She played as a freshman and sophomore on the varsity golf team at West Potomac. Last August, at age fourteen, she won the Women's District Junior Girls Golf Championship Tournament. Lauren is also a musician. She plays classical piano and plays clarinet in the wind ensemble at West Potomac. She hopes to continue playing golf in college.
